Un jour il viendra.
Mon bel amour d'hier
L'amour reviendra
Par un jour de lumière.
Dans les heures qui viennent.
Ou bien l'annje prochaine
Peu m'importe j'attends,
Car c'est l'homme que j'aime.
Et je l'attendrai mème plus longtemps.
Un jour il viendra,
Mon bel amour d'hier.
Et demain l'amour renaotra.
Un beau jour de lumière.
Le bonheur suprème.
Et les nuits qui sjnchainent.
Une a une longtemps.
Dans les heures qui viennent.
Ou bien l'annje prochaine.
Je l'attends.
Un jour il viendra.
Mon bel amour d'hier.
L'amour reviendra
Par un jour de lumière.
Si c'est un rêve.
Faites qu'il dure encore,
Oh mon rêve.
Faites qu'il dure encore.
Un jour il viendra.
Mon bel amour d'hier.
L'amour reviendra
Par un jour de lumière.
Si c'est un rêve.
Faites qu'il dure encore,
Oh mon rêve.
Faites qu'il dure encore,
Un jour.
Music: Gabriel Yared
Lyrics: Michael Jonasz
From: Eden (1998).
Source of the lyrics: the CD-booklet.
Some notes though:
Mike Smith (MPSmithPT@aol.com) correctly pointed out that the word "hier" --
which appears four times -- has no accent on it, contrary to what the booklet
shows (which has "hièr").
In the third stanza the CD-booklet has the spelling "renaotrà", but Mike
informs me that it should be without the accent on the 'a'.
The same counts for the first use of "reviendra", which incorrectly has an
accent in the booklet ("reviendrà").
Near the end Sarah sings very unclear high, and the last 3-4 lines of the
lyrics are not very clearly understandable.
Luz del Carmen Osorio Armenta (luz_osorio@hotmail.com) wrote me that the music
of this song can be heard in the movie "The English Patient"; in fact the whole
musical score of that movie was from Gabriel Yared.
Johan Jarl (johan.jarl@swipnet.se) sent me the following translation into
English, which may still need some improvements; Carlos Edmar de Almeida Souza
(cedmar@bndes.gov.br) sent me a correction that completed the second stanza, and
Mike also sent me some corrections.
As Stephen Schrader, Jr. (schrast@auburn.campuscwix.net) pointed out to me:
"viendra" means "will come"
"reviendra" means "will return"
Thus "will come" should be used in the translation, but it makes more sense to
say One day he will return / My dear love of yesterday than to say One day he
will come / ...".
One day he'll return
One day he'll return
My dear love from yesterday
Love will return
On a day of light
In the hours that come
Or in the coming year
I don't care if I have to wait
Because it is the man I love
And I'll be waiting for him even longer
One day he'll return
My dear love from yesterday
And tomorrow love will be reborn
One fine light day
The supreme hapiness
And the nights that follow each other
One after the other for a long time
In the hours that will come
Or in the coming year
I'll be waiting for you
One day he'll return
My dear love from yesterday
Love will return
On a day of light
If it's a dream
Make it still last
Oh, my dream
Make it still last
One day he'll return
My dear love from yesterday
Love will return
On a day of light
If it's a dream
Make it still last
Oh, my dream
Make it still last
One day |
