Sarah Brightman -- In pace
Diligite justitiam, o judices terrae, o judices terrae.
Music and lyrics: Patrick Doyle From: Timeless (1997). Source of the lyrics: thanks to Benjamin Chee (bchee@pacific.net.sg), with some corrections by me and Carlos Edmar de Almeida Souza (cedmar@bndes.gov.br). Note: the 's' between square brackets above is clearly sung by Sarah, but I am told that this is a mistake: the Latin word here should be 'exitus'. Benjamin Chee informed me that "In Pace" is the theme from Kenneth Brannagh's "Hamlet" and he sent me also and a translation in English, which reads (with the corrections made to the Latin lyrics): At peace Cherish righteousness, o judges of the earth, o judges of the earth. The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God, and the torment of death will not touch them. In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die, and their departure is taken for misery -- but they are at peace. The ungodly ruler has no hope, and even if he lives long, he shall be regarded as nothing. But the just prince, the just prince, he is at peace -- at peace.
