Psalm 88 ---------------------------------------------------------------
O Lord, God of my salvation, I have cried
Day and night before thee. Let my prayer
Come before thee; incline thine ear unto my prayer.
For my soul is full of troubles, and my life
Draweth nigh unto the grave. I am counted
With them that go down into the pit: I am as
A man that hath no strength.
Free among the dead, like the slain that lie
In the grave, whom thou rememberest no
More: and they are cut off from my hand.
Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in
Darkness, in the deeps. Thy wrath lieth hard
Upon me, and thou hast afflicted me withg all thy waves.
Se'-lah, Se'-lah, Se'-lah,
Thou hast put away mine acquantance far
From me; thou hast made me an
Abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I
Cannot come forth.
Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction,
Lord, I have called daily upon thee, Lord.
I have stretched out my hands unto thee,
Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? Shall
The dead arise and praise thee?
Shall thy loving kindness be declared in the
Grave or in thy faithfulness in destruction?
Shall thy wonders be mknown in the dark
And thy rightrousness in the land of
Forgetfulness?
But unto thee have I cried, O Lord: and in
the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.
Lord, why castest thou off my soul? Lord,
Why castest thou off my soul? Why hidest
Thou thy face from me?

Chapter 3
(excerpt)
Sono l'uomo che ha provato la miseria I am the man that hath seen affliction Sotto la sferza della sua ira. By the rod of His wrath. Egli mi ha guidato, mi ha fatto caminare He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, Nella tenebre e non nella luce. But not into light. Solo contro di me egli ha volto e rivolto Surely against me is he turned; La sua mano tutto il giorno He turneth his hand against me all the day Egli ha consumato sopra di me, mi ha circondato My flesh and my skin hath be made old; Di veleno e di affano He hath broken my bones. Ha construito sopra di me, mi ha circondato He hath builded against me, Di veleno e di affano. And compassed me with gall and travail. Mi ha fatto abitare in luoghi tenebrosi He hath set me in dark places, Comme morti da lungo tempo. As they that be dead of old. Anche se grido e invoco aiuto, Also when I cry out for help, Egli soffoca la mia preghiera. He shutteth out my prayer. Ha solorrato le mie con blocchi di pietra, He hath turned aside my ways and hewn stone, Ha ostruito I miei sentieri. He hath made my paths crooked. Egli era per me un orso in agguato, He was to me as a bear lying in wait, Un leone in luoghi nascosti. And is a lion in dark places. Seminando di spine la mia via. He hath turned aside my ways and pulled me in Mi ha lacerato, mi ha reso desolato. Pieces: he hath made me desolate. Ha teso l'arco, mi ha posto He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark Come bersaglio alle sue sette. For the arrow. Son diventato lo scherno di tutti I popoli, I was a derision to all my people, La loro canzone di ogni giorno. And their song all the day. Mi ha saziato con erbe amare, He hath filled me with bitterness, Mi ha disse tato con assenzio. He hath made me drunkon with wormwood. Mi ha spezzato con la sabbia I denti, He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, Mi hs steso nella polvere. He hath covered me with ashes. Son rimas to lontano dalla pace, And he hast removed my soul far off from piece; Ho dimenticato il benessere. I forgot prosperity Edico: E scomparasa lamia gloria And I said: My strength and my hope La peranze che mi veniva dal signore Is perished from the Lord. |
